Event FAQs
Over the years we've received hundreds of questions from couples planning their weddings. Below, you'll find the most popular ones. If you have a question that's not answered here, please email it to us. We'll quickly send you a response
What sets your company apart from others?
Our DJs have more experience, more polished professionalism than any other in town.
Who are your Disc Jockeys?
Our company is comprised of seasoned personalities who have an enormous amount of wedding entertainment experience. Their skills are kept sharp by busy wedding schedules and our ongoing training and seminars.
What will the DJ wear?
Normally, the DJ will either dress to the theme of the event or black suit and tie. For extra-formal events, a classic black tuxedo may be requested (at extra rental charge).
I'm going to need a lot of guidance as I plan my wedding. Can you help?
One of the most important parts of our hiring process at The Mix DJs, is the highest competence in customer service. We can and will help you with questions and suggestions regarding your event using our years of experience. If we, for whatever reason, cannot answer your question or you need heavy assistance with planning, we have several seasoned Event Planners who we can refer you to that will definitely be able to help.
Will the DJ play my requests?
Absolutely. WE KNOW it's your day! Our favorite songs are the ones that will keep you dancing, so request away! Your DJ will play the songs on the music list that you've created using our online interactive database and steer clear of those that you don't want. With your permission, they will take your guests requests as well, provided they fit within the music program you've designed.
What if we want to hear a song that's not on the play list?
We have a master music library that contains more than 2 million songs, virtually everything popular from the Big Band Era to today's Top 40. So, if you don't see a particular selection, call us, there's a good chance that it's in our library.
Do I have to pick all the music?
No. We believe that the best events are those where you've given us guidelines and we do what we do best.
What does the equipment look like?
You'll be happy to know that we believe in filling the room with sound, NOT equipment. Our Digital sound systems are attractive, compact and deliver high quality coverage. They include a microphone for all of your announcements and toasts. Plus, we take the time to hide all of the wires and cables out of sight for a clean presentation.
How about the volume level?
There's nothing worse than having to yell over loud music. We are very concious of people's sensitivity to noise. The speakers are placed above the ear-level of the guests and your DJ will continuously monitor the room and sound level. Then at party time, we set levels a bit higher to where you can feel the warmth of the music and get you out to dance the night away!
Our cocktail hour is going to be in a separate room from the reception. Is that a problem?
Not at all. We have extra equipment rental options allowing for a second sound system setup for uninterrupted music as your guests mingle and enjoy their drinks and hors d'oeuvres.
Do you provide music for the ceremony?
We do offer a side option for the ceremony music. Let us know if the ceremony is in the same area as the reception, or a different location. We'll handle it and be happy to share our ideas for processionals, recessionals and classical pieces. You can also inquire with our office staff about live musicians.
Do you have back-up equipment?
Yes. We bring plenty of extra gear...just in case.
Do you put up any signs or banners?
Absolutely Not!
What if, due to an emergency, my DJ can't make it to the reception?
We are very strict on cancellation policies. But in the rare case the contracted DJ has a serious emergency, we will send our on-call DJ to your reception. In our twenty year history, we are proud to say we have never missed an event. But, we have a DJ on-call 365 days of the year, just in case.
Does the DJ require a meal?
The DJ does NOT require a meal. We understand that many venues charge a pretty penny per plate, so we suggest to our DJs to eat before the event. But in case you insist on getting the DJ a plate, you can always ask your caterer if "vendor meals" are provided.
Is it appropriate to tip the DJ?
If you feel your disc jockey has delivered exceptional service, a tip will always be appreciated.
What if, at the reception, we want the DJ to play beyond the contracted time?
If it's an evening event, no problem. Our DJs take pride in their ability to keep the party moving. Simply authorize the DJ to stay the extra amount of hours and party on! Overtime charges can be paid directly to the DJ.
